Nominations for the 2025-2026 PTA Executive Officers

The Horsemen PTA nomination committee would like to announce the following nominations for the 2025-26 school year Horsemen PTA Executive Officers:

• Treasurer - Jenn Waltman

• Secretary - Doug Wray
  

All dues paying Horsemen PTA members may vote in the election at the next General Membership Meeting via Zoom on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 @ 7:30PM.

Meet the Candidates!

Bri Staudt lives in Tarrytown with her husband and three children. She has served on the Horsemen PTA board since the 2017-18 school year, when her oldest child entered the district as a universal Pre-K student. Bri has been a PTA grade representative at John Paulding, W. L. Morse, Washington Irving and Sleepy Hollow Middle schools. Her time on the board also included two years as PTA Treasurer and many, many Scholastic book fairs. Bri has worked with New York State PTA and National PTA to secure grants and bring programs directly to TUFSD children and families. (She enjoys applying her professional skills to PTA operations almost as much as playing games with students during class parties.)  Bri is passionate about literacy, family engagement, school and travel safety, access to the arts and athletics, and ensuring children have healthy minds and bodies. She would be thrilled to serve the families of TUFSD in the role of PTA president if elected.

Sophia Rana is a devoted mother, wife, and accomplished dentist.  As a 20-year resident of Tarrytown, she loves this community and has a passion for advocating for our children.   Her son is currently a student at SHMS.  Sophia has been actively involved in Horsemen PTA for 9 years, volunteering as class parent, chairing PTA events, and serving as Horsemen PTA President (2021-23).  The experience she gained as PTA President will be invaluable as she returns to serve on the Executive Committee. She is also co-founder and co-director of the Community Wardrobe and is grateful for the opportunity to serve our greater community in this role.  

Jenn Waltman, her husband and two children have resided in Sleepy Hollow for the past 14 years. She has been a member of the PTA for 6 years, and has actively participated in Picture Days, Book Fairs, served as Class Parent and stepped in as the Communications Coordinator this year. Jenn is the Manager of the Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow Girl Scout service unit, served as Membership Chair for her neighborhood association for 4 years and was the Director of Operations at a local preschool where she managed all facets of running a NY state certified daycare. Jenn is a self-proclaimed "Excel Nerd" and seeks out opportunities to create efficiencies across her professional and personal life; she is looking forward to the opportunity to be more involved in the PTA and carry on the financial responsibilities within the Treasurer position.

Douglas Wray moved to the district in the mid 1990’s, attending middle and high school. He returned with his bachelor’s degree and began volunteering for SHFD and SHAC. Now he has two children in the district. He has served as PTA Executive Committee Secretary for the 2024-2025 term and is looking forward to another opportunity in serving as Secretary for the upcoming school year.
